Students are one group that is very much affected by mental illness. Below is a list of different activities you can implement in a classroom setting to help promote positive mental health. 70% of mental health issues in children can be addressed by early intervention (mentalhealth.org)

Print and hang up posters!

In the "project" tab, multiple posters are shown, all mental health-centered. By printing out these posters and making positive mental health a priority and common place in daily life, you can help break the stigma! Click the picture to be redirected to our posters.

Art Therapy

Art therapy is a very effective way to subtly promote positive mental health in your classroom. Click on the image to the right to be redirected to our tutorial on how to do art therapy! This practice has been shown to improve communication and concentration as well as reduce feelings of isolation (GoodTherapy)

Do a Physical Activity

Exercising regularly is an effective way to reduce symptoms of ADHD and improve concentration, memory, and motivation. Click on the image for ideas of physical activities to do with school-aged children.

Dance Therapy

Dancing is a great way for children to express themselves as well as get active. Dance therapy has been shown to lead to stress reduction, disease prevention, and mood management (GoodTherapy). Click on the image for information on dance therapy.

Make stress balls

Stress balls provide a resource for students to get rid of pent-up emotions such as anger, sadness, and stress. The making of their own stress ball makes it more personalized for the students and makes them more likely to use it. Click on the image for our tutorial on how to do this in a classroom!
